PERANAN PEMBERDAYAAN DALAM MENINGKATKAN KOMPETENSI KEPALA SEKOLAH MENENGAH KEJURUAN NEGERI DI JAKARTA TIMUR

Abstract


This research aims to analyze the role of empowerment in improving competence of Principals of State Vocational High School in East Jakarta. The research used qualitative approach and descriptive method. The data was obtained through literature review and analyzed in descriptive and qualitative manner. Results of the research show that the competence of principals consisting of managerial, entrepreneurship, supervision, personality and social can be improved through the principal empowerments, such as: encouraging participation in a number of activities; encouraging the growth of innovation by allowing and giving opportunity to express any potential innovative and creative ideas that can enrich their competence; giving access on information as broad as possible; encouraging high accountability; creating school organization culture or climate that allows the principal competence to be improved in an optimal manner; giving strengthening on the principal competence; and giving full support for the principals so that they can serve their role and actualize their competence optimally.
