ANALISIS LEGITIMASI PUBLIK PADA BANK SYARIAH DI INDONESIA : STUDI KASUS BANK SYARIAH MANDIRI

Abstract


Berhasil melewati krisis 1998, fatwa DSN MUI bahwa bunga haram, citra relijius, dan prinsip bagi hasil merupakan hal utama yang melegitimasi operasional bank syariah di Indonsia. Namun, publik tidak cukup yakin dengan legitimasi bank syariah. Hal tersebut ditandai dengan banyak kritik terhadap produk bank syariah yang dinilai sama dengan produk bank konvensional dengan hanya berbeda nama, kontribusinya terhadap masyarakat yang dipertanyakan, hingga fraud yang terjadi di dalam tubuh bank syariah itu sendiri yang makin membuat publik mempertanyakan praktik operasional bank syariah. Penelitian ini mengambil sudut pandang publik sepenuhnya dalam menganalisis legitimasi publik terhadap BSM dengan metode konten analisis pengungkapan variabel yang ingin diketahui publik melalui laporan tahunan yang dirilis ke publik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa meskipun masih banyak hal yang tidak diungkap oleh BSM dalam laporan tahunannya, BSM masih cukup legitimate sebagai bank syariah.
